Lonavala · Eco-certified hotel
Wedding at The Fern Lonavala
Location: Near the Valvan dam, just off the Mumbai–Pune Expressway · close to Lonavala market
The Fern is the right size for the wedding most families actually have: a couple of hundred guests, two or three functions, everyone under one roof. It is a compact hotel of about 80 rooms on two acres, built as an Ecotel, with a party lawn and poolside that combine for a bigger evening. Here is how the spaces work and how we plan the bridal side.
- About 80 rooms on two acres
- Lawn and poolside for about 600
- Right off the Expressway

Small enough to fill, big enough to celebrate.
The Fern lists five event spaces and about 6,700 sq ft in total. For weddings it leans on the outdoor areas, with indoor halls for smaller functions.
| Space | Setting | Capacity | How we would use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Party lawn and poolside | Open lawn by the pool | Up to about 600 when combined with the hall | The reception or a big sangeet |
| Aagman | Main indoor hall | Up to about 400, theatre-style | A monsoon wedding or a cold-night reception |
| Senate rooms | Smaller function rooms | Small groups | Mehendi, family dinner, a getting-ready base |

Because the property is compact, the walk from the bride’s room to the lawn is short and the whole wedding stays in one place — one of the reasons we like mid-sized hotels for a two-day wedding.
We are not affiliated with the hotel and receive nothing for linking to it.
Our approach
Planning a compact two-day wedding.
A smaller hotel is easier in many ways. These are the details we still plan for.
- Book the bride’s room with the dateWith around 80 rooms, a wedding can take most of the hotel. Reserve a well-lit room for the bride and one for family looks before the room block fills.
- Poolside humidityEvening functions by the pool are cooler and damper than a lawn away from the water. We set the base for that and keep blotting on hand.
- One lawn, two functionsIf the sangeet and reception share the lawn, decor changeovers squeeze the schedule. We fix look times early so the bride is never waiting on the set.
- Expressway accessGuests can arrive easily, but for a morning function our team still stays nearby the night before.
