Your artist in Rome

Tejaswini: fourteen years of Indian brides, now in the Eternal City.

The person behind this page is Tejaswini, a Pune-born bridal makeup artist who has styled more than a thousand brides since 2012. She runs Tejaswini Makeup Studio & Academy in Baner and still takes every bridal booking herself.

Rome is a city of warm stone and strong sun, followed by gilded rooms and chandeliers at night. Her approach is a thin, long-wear base that does not shine in the heat, defined eyes and a finish that reads as skin in both kinds of light.

The system is the same everywhere: early arrival, one wedding per trip and every morning planned on paper before anyone flies, with Rome traffic built into the timetable.

What a Rome bride gets

  • Two planning conversations (a third if needed) covering outfits, jewellery and venue light
  • No rushed trial: looks are decided in advance with your real styling
  • Tejaswini personally on every bridal look, with her own team for family makeup
  • A written timetable shared with your planner and photographer

Where the weddings happen

The city for portraits, the hills and lakes for the wedding.

Most Indian weddings in Rome do not happen in the crowded historic centre. They happen on its edges: on Monte Mario, the green hill to the north-west, where Rome Cavalieri and Villa Miani look over the whole city; on the Janiculum, the hill above Trastevere; and in the castles and villas of the Roman countryside, such as Castello Odescalchi on Lake Bracciano.

The centre is for portraits: the Colosseum at dawn, the Spanish Steps, Trevi and the bridges over the Tiber. Shoots there need permits for professional photography in some places and very early starts to avoid crowds.

For makeup, that means planning drives. Rome traffic is slow, so we ask for the team’s rooms in the wedding hotel and build an extra buffer into every transfer.

Allow this much time

Typical travel times the bridal team plans around.

Rough door-to-door estimates. Traffic, ferries and season change them, so we add a buffer to every one.

  • Fiumicino (FCO) to the city centre40–60 min
  • Ciampino (CIA) to the city centre30–45 min
  • City centre to Monte Mario20–30 min
  • City centre to the Janiculum15–25 min
  • Rome to Bracciano50–70 min
  • Fiumicino to BraccianoAbout 45 min
  • Rome to Florence by high-speed trainAbout 1.5 hours

For a sunrise shoot in the centre, the team starts in the dark. We do the full bridal look at the hotel and keep only a touch-up kit on location, because there is nowhere to sit and work near the monuments.

Light and setting

How Rome changes each look.

Rome gives you hard sunlight on stone by day and gilt, frescoes and chandeliers by night. Each function’s makeup is planned for the light it will be photographed in.

A wedding day in Rome

How the bride’s day usually runs.

An example for late-afternoon pheras on a hilltop terrace and a ballroom reception. We rebuild it around your muhurat and your photographer.

  1. 07:30

Team sets up in the bridal suite

Daylight position chosen, kit laid out, skin prep ready. The team stays in the wedding hotel.

  2. 09:00

    Mothers and family first

Family makeup runs in a second room.

  3. 11:30

    Bride’s skin prep and base

A long-wear base for warm sun and ballroom flash.

  4. 13:30

    Hair, eyes, jewellery and draping

Everything set with the outfit on.

  5. 15:00

    Portraits indoors

Frescoed rooms or shaded gardens while the sun is high.

  6. 17:00

    Baraat and pheras

Timed for softer light on the terrace; one artist stays at the mandap.

  7. 20:00

    Change for the reception

Deeper lip and refreshed eyes for the ballroom.

Sun check: Roman summers are hot and the terraces face open sky. From June to August we push outdoor ceremonies towards evening and use a sweat-resistant base.

Questions

Rome wedding makeup: what families ask.

Do you travel from India for Rome weddings?

Yes. The team flies from Pune and covers every function for the bride, family and bridal party.

Which Rome venues do Indian families book most?

Rome Cavalieri and Villa Miani on Monte Mario, Villa Aurelia on the Janiculum and Castello Odescalchi on Lake Bracciano. Each has its own guide on this site.

Is Rome good for a winter Indian wedding?

Yes, for indoor functions. Hotels and villas stay open all year, and winter is quieter and often better value.

Yes, usually at sunrise. The full look is done at the hotel and we bring a touch-up kit on location.

How many days before the wedding should the team arrive?

At least one full day before the first function.

Can we combine Rome with another region?

Yes. Florence is about 90 minutes by high-speed train, and Puglia and the Amalfi Coast are a short flight or a few hours away.

What does the family need to send for the team’s visas?

Confirmed rooms, flight bookings and a short letter describing the event and dates. We send the exact list per person.

Do you only do North Indian bridal looks?

No. Tejaswini works across North Indian, Marwari, Punjabi, Gujarati, Maharashtrian, South Indian and contemporary looks.
