Capacity
Figures are from the hotel’s opening announcements in 2023. The Peninsula Spa adds hammams and a 25-metre indoor pool, which is useful for a relaxed day between functions.
The setting
The hotel is part of the Galataport redevelopment, which turned Karaköy’s old cruise-port waterfront into a promenade of shops, museums and cafés. The Peninsula occupies four buildings there, three of them protected historic structures restored with the city’s heritage board.
For a wedding, the location is the point. Sultanahmet is across the water, Galata Tower rises behind the hotel and the promenade is car-free. That makes a sunset baraat along the waterfront, or couple portraits on the quay, easy to stage.
For makeup, Karaköy brings one practical challenge: the promenade is open to the wind off the Bosphorus. Outdoor portraits happen before indoor functions, hair is styled with more hold, and the team carries a handheld steamer for the dupatta.
A four-function weekend
A soft, polished look for the bride; quick makeup for mothers.
Defined eyes and a long-wear base for a long night of performances.
Traditional bridal look, pinned for wind, touch-ups at the mandap.
A glamorous change with a new hairstyle and a deeper lip.
Light by space
| Space | Light | What we adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Rooftop | Open sky, then city lights | Less highlighter by day; stronger lashes at night |
| Ballroom | Event lighting and constant flash | Thin layers, firmer set, no glitter on the skin |
| Waterfront quay | Bright, reflective, windy | Waterproof eyes, structured hair, dupatta pinned at more points |
| Suites | Large windows to the water | Our daylight station for the bride |
Watch
How one bride can look different at each function.
Bridal-party makeup that still feels like part of the same story.
Getting ready
Rooms start at around 40 square metres, enough for a bride, a hair station and a photographer without anyone in the way.
For the main day we suggest a Bosphorus-view suite with the chair placed side-on to the window for even light.
A second room on the same floor for mothers and sisters keeps the bride’s space calm.
The hammams and indoor pool are best enjoyed early in the week; no scrubs in the last 48 hours.

Tejaswini
Four functions in one weekend need four looks that feel connected. That is how Tejaswini has worked for fourteen years: each function is planned against the ones either side of it, so the rooftop welcome, the ballroom sangeet and the quay-side pheras read as one story in the album.
