A little history
From a burnt-out palace to Istanbul’s wedding landmark.
Sultan Abdülaziz commissioned Çırağan in the 1860s, with the Balyan family of architects designing a palace of carved marble on the Bosphorus between Beşiktaş and Ortaköy. In 1910 a fire left only the outer walls standing, and for decades the shell sat empty.
The restoration that followed turned it into a hotel: a modern wing opened first and the restored palace followed in the early 1990s, operated by Kempinski. Today the palace rooms host dinners and ceremonies while the long terrace and pool area face the water and the Asian shore.
For a bride, that history shows up in the light. Pale marble reflects strong sun back onto the face, the terrace has very little shade in the afternoon, and the palace interiors are lit warm and low in the evening.

Do you provide Indian bridal makeup at Çırağan Palace?
Yes. Tejaswini’s team flies from India for weddings at Çırağan and covers each function for the bride, family and bridal party. The team’s flights, visas and rooms are paid by the family.
Where should the bride get ready at Çırağan?
In a suite with good natural light close to the terrace or the ballroom used that day. A second room nearby for family makeup keeps the bridal suite calm.
Is the Palace Terrace too sunny for bridal makeup?
Not if the makeup is designed for it. We use a satin finish, long-wear products and avoid heavy highlighter, and plan indoor portraits before the ceremony.
How large an Indian wedding can Çırağan host?
The hotel lists its Palace Terrace for up to around 900 seated or 2,000 for cocktails, with smaller ballrooms for 200–250. Your planner will confirm layouts with a mandap and stage.
Can the team stay somewhere else to save money?
We strongly prefer rooms in the hotel. Early starts and Istanbul traffic make a commute the biggest avoidable risk of the week.
Can you also do makeup for a function at a neighbouring hotel?
Yes. Four Seasons at the Bosphorus is next door, and many families use both. We plan the transfer and touch-up between the two.
How do we get a quote for a Çırağan wedding?
