Gold leaf, a lobby modelled on Ottoman palaces and one of the largest pools on the Mediterranean. Mardan Palace has hosted some of the most lavish Indian weddings in Turkey, and its scale shapes every part of the bride’s plan.

Scale
Its story
Mardan Palace opened in May 2009 as one of the most expensive resorts ever built on the Mediterranean, with interiors referencing Istanbul’s Dolmabahçe and Topkapı palaces. Its opening party was famously star-studded.
When the whole palace is booked, the makeup list is as long as the guest list.
For Indian families the attraction has always been capacity. WeddingSutra reported its column-free ballrooms for up to about 1,200 guests, and one well-documented wedding booked the entire palace for 600 guests, covering the pool with a platform to create the stage.
That scale means two things for makeup. First, distances: a bridal suite can be several minutes’ walk from the function space, so we build walking time into every schedule. Second, numbers: when an entire resort is booked, the list of family members who want makeup is long, and the team must be sized for it.
Pool-deck and palace spaces
Water on every side reflects light upward. We keep highlighter low and use a satin finish so the face does not flash white in photographs.
Gold walls and warm light flatter golden tones. Cooler lipsticks can look grey here; we test shades in the room if we can.
Sea breeze and bright sand. Waterproof eye products and a hairstyle that will not lift in the wind.
Wedding day
Two or three artists start with mothers, sisters and aunts in a dedicated room.
Skin prep, hydration and base in the bridal suite.
Draping, dupatta and jewellery placed with the outfit on.
The lobby and halls make a grand backdrop while the light outside is harsh.
A touch-up artist stays close to the mandap.
A fresh look for the evening, with time built in for the walk.

Tejaswini
When a full palace is booked, the makeup list is long. Tejaswini has run bridal mornings for more than a thousand brides since 2012 and sizes her India-based team from your list, not a package. She stays with the bride from first prep to final pin; her artists handle the family in staggered slots.
