Pushkar grew around its lake, which is lined with ghats and temples, including one of the very few temples in India dedicated to Brahma. Hills rise on three sides, with the Savitri temple on the highest ridge.
Every year around the Kartik full moon the town hosts the Pushkar Fair, when roads and hotels fill up. Most weddings take place at resorts in the surrounding hills, a few minutes' drive from the lake.
