In short

How a Cappadocia pre-wedding shoot with Tejaswini works

You fly to Cappadocia for two or three days with your photographer. Tejaswini’s team arrives the same day or earlier, plans two or three looks with you beforehand, and does the bride’s makeup, hair and draping for every look, with quick touch-ups on location. The couple pays the team’s flights, visas and rooms at cost, shown separately from the fee.

Most couples shoot one balloon sunrise, one golden-hour session in the valleys and one evening look at the hotel, with a spare morning held back in case the balloons do not fly.

The artist

Tejaswini: the same face in your pre-wedding album and your wedding album.

A pre-wedding shoot is often the first time a couple sees themselves photographed professionally, and the images set expectations for the wedding itself. Booking the artist who will also do the wedding makeup means the bride looks consistent across both albums, and the shoot doubles as a real-world test of colours, skin prep and hairstyles.

Tejaswini has been an Indian bridal makeup artist since 2012 and has styled more than a thousand brides from her studio in Baner, Pune. Her style is skin-first and photographic: thin, well-prepared bases, definition that reads in wide landscape frames, and colour that suits the bride rather than the trend.

Her destination work so far has been across India, in Goa, Udaipur, Jaipur and beyond, with brides also flying in from abroad to book her. For Cappadocia the team brings the same discipline: early arrival, looks planned in writing and a timetable agreed with your photographer.

Why couples book her for the shoot

  • Looks are a preview of the wedding, not a separate style
  • Skin and hair plans are tested in real light before the big day
  • One artist who knows your face across both events
  • Calm, organised pre-dawn mornings

A sample shoot plan

Two days, four looks, one spare sunrise.

Day 1
Pre-dawn

Balloon sunrise in red

A full bridal-red look with jewellery, set for cold air and a breeze on the terrace or viewpoint.

Day 1
Golden hour

Flowing gown in the valleys

A softer, luminous look and loose, secured waves for a dress that moves in the wind.

Day 2
Pre-dawn

Spare balloon morning

Held in reserve. If day one flew, this becomes a pastel lehenga look at the cave rooftops.

Day 2
Evening

Cave suite and candlelight

A deeper eye and richer lip for warm, low light inside stone rooms.

Outfit and makeup

Colours that work against Cappadocia’s rock.

The landscape is pale gold, rose and cream. Strong colours stand out; beige can disappear into the stone.

Outfit colourWhy it worksMakeup to pair with it
Bridal red or maroonPops against pale rock and blue dawn skyClassic bridal: defined eyes, red lip, warm glow
Emerald or royal blueRich contrast at golden hourBronzed eyes, nude-rose lip
Blush, lilac or powder blueDreamy with balloons in frameSoft, luminous skin, pink-toned cheeks
Ivory or goldElegant in cave interiorsWarmer base, deeper lip so the face does not wash out

Flowing, long-trail “flying dress” shots are popular here. They need wind, so we plan hair that stays in place even when the fabric does not.

Built for the conditions

What Tejaswini changes for a Cappadocia shoot.

01

Hydration first

Dry plateau air flattens skin. Prep is richer than for a coastal wedding.

02

Creams over powders

Cream blush and highlight look like skin in close-ups; powder can look dusty.

03

Wind-proof hair

Structured styles, more pins and short face-framing pieces.

04

Lamps for caves

Daylight lamps travel with the kit because cave rooms are dim.

Practical tips

Making the shoot days easy.

Do

  • Book the shoot for your second or third morning, not the first
  • Keep a spare sunrise free for balloons
  • Pack a warm shawl in each outfit’s colour
  • Eat before a 3am start
  • Agree permissions for any private terrace or location with your photographer

Avoid

  • Very heavy trains on dusty paths
  • New skincare in the week before
  • Midday shoots: the light is flat and harsh
  • Changing looks on the rocks; change at the hotel

Questions

Cappadocia pre-wedding shoot makeup FAQs.

Do you travel from India for a Cappadocia pre-wedding shoot?

Yes. Tejaswini’s team flies from Pune and handles the bride’s makeup, hair and draping for every look. The couple pays the team’s flights, Turkish visas and rooms at cost.

How many looks can we do in a Cappadocia shoot?

Usually two to four across two or three days. One sunrise look and one golden-hour look per day is a comfortable pace.

What time does makeup start for a balloon shoot?

Around two to three hours before sunrise for a full bridal look; earlier if the groom or family also need grooming.

What if the balloons are cancelled?

Balloon flights depend on wind. Keep a spare morning in the plan; the valleys still photograph beautifully at dawn without balloons.

Can the groom get makeup too?

Yes. Light grooming for the groom, such as skin prep, a little coverage and hair styling, can be added to the plan.

Which months are best?

April to June and September to October usually offer comfortable temperatures and frequent balloon flights. Winter brings snow, which can be beautiful but is very cold at dawn.

Can you also do our wedding makeup?

Yes. Many couples book Tejaswini for both, so the bride looks consistent across the pre-wedding and wedding albums.

Do we need a trial?

Tejaswini does not do trials. Looks are decided in two planning conversations, a third if needed, using your real outfits and jewellery.
