Booking an Indian bridal makeup artist for Sicily

Tejaswini’s India-based team covers Sicily weddings end to end: bridal makeup and hair for each function, draping, and makeup for the family and bridal party. The team lands at least a day before the first event and stays at or near your hotel. Flights from India, Schengen visas and rooms for the team are paid by the client and shown separately in the quote.

Sicily suits families who want drama and sunshine: cliff-top hotels in Taormina with views of Etna and the sea, or the Art Nouveau elegance of Palermo, with a long season that runs well into October.

Your artist in Sicily

Tejaswini: fourteen years of Indian brides, now under Etna.

The person behind this page is Tejaswini, a Pune-born bridal makeup artist who has styled more than a thousand brides since 2012. She runs Tejaswini Makeup Studio & Academy in Baner and still takes every bridal booking herself.

Sicily is the sunniest wedding destination in Italy, with sea light, white stone and warm nights. Her signature, a thin, sweat-resistant base and clean definition around the eyes, keeps the bride fresh through a long, hot day.

Taormina’s steep lanes and Palermo’s traffic both need planning, so every morning is written down before anyone flies.

What a Sicily bride gets

  • Two planning conversations (a third if needed) covering outfits, jewellery and venue light
  • No rushed trial: looks are decided in advance with your real styling
  • Tejaswini personally on every bridal look, with her own team for family makeup
  • A written timetable shared with your planner and photographer

Where the weddings happen

Taormina for views, Palermo for grandeur.

Most Indian weddings in Sicily happen in Taormina, a small hill town on the east coast between Messina and Catania. Its hotels sit on terraces above the Ionian Sea, with Mount Etna across the bay and an ancient Greek theatre at the top of the town.

Palermo, on the north coast, is the alternative: a big, historic city with Art Nouveau villas, palazzi and seaside hotels such as Villa Igiea.

Taormina’s centre is largely pedestrian and steep, so transfers are short but on foot or in small vehicles. For makeup that means the team stays in the wedding hotel, and the kit moves once.

Allow this much time

Typical travel times the bridal team plans around.

Rough door-to-door estimates. Traffic, ferries and season change them, so we add a buffer to every one.

  • Catania airport (CTA) to TaorminaAbout 1 hour
  • Palermo airport (PMO) to Villa IgieaAbout 30–40 min
  • Taormina to Giardini Naxos (beach)About 15 min
  • Taormina to Mount Etna’s lower slopesAbout 1 hour
  • Within Taormina’s centreMostly on foot, 5–15 min
  • Taormina to PalermoAbout 3 hours by road
  • Rome to Catania by airAbout 1 hr 15 min

Coaches cannot reach many Taormina hotels, so guests use shuttles and minivans. If functions are in two hotels, we plan the bride’s walk or ride and a touch-up on arrival.

Sicily venues

Three Sicily venues, each with its own guide.

What each property is like, where the bride gets ready and how its spaces shape the looks.

Light and setting

How Sicily changes each look.

Sicily gives you hard sea light, warm stone and long, balmy nights. Each function’s makeup is planned for the light and heat it will face.

A wedding day in Sicily

How the bride’s day usually runs.

An example for late-afternoon pheras in a garden above the sea and a terrace reception. We rebuild it around your muhurat and your photographer.

  1. 07:30

Team sets up in the bridal suite

A cool room with good window light; the team stays in the hotel.

  2. 09:00

    Mothers and family first

Family makeup runs in a second room.

  3. 11:30

    Bride’s skin prep and base

Cooling prep and a sweat-resistant base.

  4. 13:30

    Hair, eyes, jewellery and draping

A hairstyle set for sea breeze.

  5. 15:30

    Portraits in the shade

    Cloisters, gardens and old lanes.

  6. 17:30

    Baraat and pheras

Timed for softer light, ideally with Etna in view.

  7. 20:30

    Change for the reception

Deeper lip and refreshed eyes for terrace lights.

Heat check: Sicilian summers are hot. From late June to August we move outdoor ceremonies towards evening and keep blotting papers, powder and a mist with the bride.

Questions

Sicily wedding makeup: what families ask.

Do you travel from India for Sicily weddings?

Yes. The team flies from Pune and covers every function for the bride, family and bridal party.

Which Sicily venues do Indian families choose?

San Domenico Palace and Grand Hotel Timeo in Taormina, and Villa Igiea in Palermo; each has its own guide here.

Is Taormina good for a large Indian wedding?

It suits small to mid-sized weddings best; very large groups need several hotels or a venue outside the centre.

Which airport should we use?

Catania for Taormina; Palermo for Villa Igiea and western Sicily.

When is the best time?

May, June, September and October; the season runs late in Sicily.

How many days before should the team arrive?

At least one full day before the first function.

What does the family need to send for the team’s visas?

Confirmed rooms, flight bookings and a short letter describing the event. We send the exact list per person.

Can you do a shoot at the Greek theatre?

Shoots at heritage sites need permits; your photographer arranges these. We do the look at the hotel and bring a touch-up kit.
