A little history

A convent famous for a pastry, reborn as a hotel.

The monastery of Santa Rosa was built in the 17th century on the cliffs of Conca dei Marini. Its nuns are credited with inventing the sfogliatella Santa Rosa, a cream-filled pastry still sold across Campania.

Abandoned for many years, it was restored and reopened as a small luxury hotel in the 2010s, with terraced gardens, an infinity pool on the cliff and a spa in the old vaults.

With only a small number of rooms, it suits an intimate wedding, often as a full buyout. For the bride, that means a private, unhurried morning in one of the cliff-facing rooms.

Specific to this venue

Monastero Santa Rosa details we plan around.

Worth doing

  • Consider a full buyout for privacy
  • Plan garden portraits early or late in the day
  • Arrange luggage help for the team’s kit
  • Keep the guest list intimate

Worth avoiding

  • Large guest lists the venue cannot hold
  • Long trains on narrow garden stairs
  • A glossy base in summer humidity
  • Last-minute coast-road transfers

The wedding day

A typical Monastero Santa Rosa wedding day.

  1. 07:00

Team sets up in a cliff-facing room

We ask for a room with good window light and a second room close by for family makeup, so the bride’s room stays calm.

  2. 08:30

    Mothers and family first

Family looks run in parallel with the bridal skin prep, timed so nobody waits in the corridor.

  3. 10:30

    Bride’s skin prep and base

Hydration, primer and a base built for strong sea light on terraced gardens.

  4. 12:30

    Hair, eyes, jewellery and draping

Maang tikka, nath and dupatta set with the outfit on, checked from every angle the photographer will use.

  5. 14:00

Portraits on the garden terraces and stairs

First photographs while the makeup is at its freshest, before the busiest part of the day.

  6. 15:30

Baraat and pheras at a garden terrace on the cliff

One artist stays near the mandap with a touch-up kit: blotting papers, powder, lip and spare pins.

  7. 19:00

    Change for the reception

New lip, refreshed eyes and a second hairstyle if planned; allow 60–75 minutes.
