Intimate wedding makeup at The Oberoi Rajvilas

Rajvilas is quiet by design: a walled resort in gardens, with an old Shiva temple, pools and tents rather than a ballroom. Weddings here are smaller, closer and photographed from a few feet away, so the skin has to look like skin.

The practical part

From Pune to Rajvilas, for a smaller wedding.

Tejaswini is based in Pune and travels for intimate weddings as readily as large ones. At Rajvilas she usually works alone or with one extra artist, staying close by for every call time. Fares and a room close to Oberoi Rajvilas are the family’s cost, charged without mark-up.

Why couples choose it

Privacy first, spectacle second.

The Oberoi Rajvilas opened in 1997 as a resort built to feel like a small Rajput fort, with high walls around gardens, fountains and orchards. It sits on the eastern edge of Jaipur, away from the traffic of the old city.

Couples choose it for privacy. There is no grand ballroom; functions happen on lawns, by the pools and around the temple, often for a guest list closer to a hundred than a thousand.

That intimacy changes the makeup. Guests are close, photographers shoot tight portraits and much of the day is in natural light. Texture and blending matter more than drama.

The resort

A garden fort, not a banquet venue.

At Rajvilas

What makes a small wedding look its best.

Worth doing

  • Choose a villa or tent with good window light to get ready in
  • Plan portraits in late afternoon among the trees
  • Keep the look closer to your everyday face for daytime functions
  • Tell us if the ceremony is at the temple; covering the head changes the hair

Worth avoiding

  • Heavy, full-coverage bases at close range
  • Over-styled hair for a garden ceremony
  • Booking too many artists for a small party
  • Flash-heavy setting powders for night photographs
