Mahabaleshwar · Marriott Bonvoy five-star
Wedding at Le Méridien Mahabaleshwar
Location: 211/212 Mahabaleshwar–Medha Road, Mahabaleshwar, Satara district · about three hours from Pune
Mahabaleshwar’s Marriott five-star sits away from the bazaar on the Medha road, folded into the evergreen forest of the Western Ghats. It is the venue people usually mean by a “big” Mahabaleshwar wedding: two large lawns, banquet halls, a poolside and 122 rooms. Here is how the spaces work, what it costs on published figures, and how we plan the bridal side.
- Marriott five-star in the forest
- Two lawns for around 400 each
- 122 rooms on site

What Le Méridien Mahabaleshwar is like.
A low-rise, two-storey resort spread through the forest on the Mahabaleshwar–Medha road, run by Marriott under the Le Méridien brand. Weddings here use the outdoors: two big lawns for the main events, banquet halls for the evenings that turn cold, and a poolside for the smaller functions.
The wedding spaces
| Space | Setting | Capacity | How we would use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Henry Lawns | Open lawn, 10,259 sq ft | About 400 for a reception or banquet | The wedding itself, or the reception |
| Royal Grounds | Open lawn, 4,199 sq ft | About 400 for a reception or banquet | The sangeet, or a second large function |
| Henry 2 | Indoor hall, 1,453 sq ft | About 80 banquet, 110 theatre | A cold-evening cocktail or a family dinner |
| Henry | Indoor hall, 1,035 sq ft | About 50 banquet, 110 theatre | Mehendi, or a warm base for the family on the wedding day |
| Poolside | Open pool deck | Roughly 10 to 120 | Welcome drinks and the after-party |
Lawn and hall figures are from the hotel’s published meeting-space chart; the poolside range is from a wedding directory. Marriott lists seven event spaces in total. Confirm exact seated numbers for your layout with the hotel.
The forest is the point here. The lawns are ringed with trees rather than open to a valley, which makes the setting feel private and keeps the wind down — but it also means the light goes earlier than at a cliff-edge venue. Plan portraits for the late afternoon, not the last minute.

Our approach
Planning the bridal side at Le Méridien.
A large resort spread across forest grounds has its own rhythm. These are the things we plan around.
- Distances inside the resortRooms, lawns and halls are spread out. We ask for the bride’s room close to the main lawn, and we time touch-ups around the walk as well as the function.
- Shade and early lightUnder the canopy the light is softer and drops earlier than in open country. We build the base to read well in shade and move couple portraits earlier in the afternoon.
- Two lawns, two looksWith Henry Lawns and Royal Grounds both available, many couples run the sangeet and the wedding on consecutive evenings outdoors. We plan a lighter, more playful look for one and the full bridal look for the other, with a clear change-over time.
- A banquet backup in winterDecember nights are cold under the trees. Keep one of the Henry halls on hold for a cocktail or an after-party; it also gives us a warm, well-lit space for evening touch-ups.
- Book the rooms with the date122 rooms is a lot for Mahabaleshwar, but peak weekends still fill. Hold rooms for your vendors, the makeup team included, when you sign.

What people forget to budget
- Taxes and service chargeListed per-plate rates are almost never inclusive. Ask for the all-in figure in writing.
- Peak-date premiumsDecember weekends and long holidays are priced very differently from a weekday in February.
- Guest transportThree hours from Pune and five to six from Mumbai. Coaches for guests who are not driving add up quickly.
- Vendor roomsMakeup, photography and decor teams need to be on site the night before. Those rooms belong in the budget.
