Bhawani Singh Road · Jaipur
A palace that was a family home until the 1950s still feels like one: long verandas, sunlit lawns, rooms full of portraits. Tejaswini plans each of your looks for the exact corner of Rambagh it will be photographed in.

Travel and costs
Tejaswini lives and works in Pune. For a Rambagh Palace wedding she flies into Jaipur before your first function, does the bride herself, and brings extra artists only if the family needs them. Her travel is quoted separately from the looks, so you can see exactly what each part costs.
The palace in brief
Published facts about the property. Function spaces and guest numbers are confirmed with the hotel's events team for your dates.

How it became a hotel
Rambagh began in 1835 as a modest garden house for a favoured lady-in-waiting of the royal household. Over the following decades it grew into a hunting lodge and then, in 1925, into the main residence of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, who added the formal rooms and gardens that guests know today.
In 1957 the family opened it as a hotel, one of the first palaces in India to take paying guests. Taj has run it since. The scale is domestic rather than monumental, which is why wedding functions here tend to feel like a large family gathering instead of an event in a ballroom.
For makeup, the palace has two very different kinds of light. The lawns are open and bright, with almost no shade at midday. The interiors are high-ceilinged and warm-toned, lit by chandeliers and lamps. One base will not do both well.
Function by function

Open sky and green all round. A light, sun-protected base, soft flush and hair kept off the neck so the mehendi artist can work.

Warm tungsten and mirrored surfaces. More eye definition and a contour that survives several hours of dancing.

Afternoon or evening mandap on the lawn. A satin finish that does not flash, a secure dupatta and kundan balanced against a bold lip.

Columns, lanterns and a long line of photographs. A sleeker hairstyle and a cooler palette so the album does not repeat the wedding day.
Wedding day
A suite with a north- or east-facing window gives the cleanest daylight for the base.
Skin prep, base and eyes first; hair and drape follow. Around three hours for a full traditional look.
Palace rooms and corridors before the afternoon heat reaches the lawns.
Final checks while the groom's side comes up the drive.
Touch-up kit at the mandap: powder, lip, safety pins, blotting papers.
New lip, refreshed eyes and a second hairstyle if one was planned.
