Intimate wedding makeup at RAAS Jodhpur

RAAS is a small hotel in a restored haveli in the old city, right under Mehrangarh. It suits weddings of family and close friends, and the fort lit up at night is the backdrop to almost every photograph.

From Pune to Jodhpur's old city.

Tejaswini is based in Pune. For a small wedding at RAAS she usually travels alone or with one assistant, and stays within walking distance for every call time. You cover the travel and the room; neither is folded into the bridal price.

About RAAS

A ruined haveli brought back to life.

RAAS occupies a haveli that was once the city home of the Thakurs of Raas, a noble family of Marwar. When its present owners bought it, the building was a ruin. They restored the old red sandstone structures and added new buildings in the same stone, with carved screens that slide open to frame the fort.

It is Jodhpur's best-known boutique hotel, with about forty rooms, a courtyard pool and a rooftop that looks straight up at Mehrangarh. The old city's lanes and blue houses are right outside the gate.

Weddings here are necessarily small. That makes them personal, and it also means every guest sees the bride from a few feet away, so the makeup is built for close-up rather than distance.

The hotel

Small, central and very close to the fort.

At RAAS

Notes for an old-city wedding.

Worth doing

  • Plan portraits in the blue lanes in the late afternoon
  • Keep the guest list small enough for the courtyard
  • Use the rooftop after dark for fort-lit photographs
  • Choose comfortable shoes for old-city lanes

Worth avoiding

  • Heavy, full-coverage bases for close-up photography
  • Very long trains in narrow lanes
  • Booking more artists than a small party needs
  • Driving in from a distant hotel through old-city traffic

RAAS Jodhpur questions

RAAS Jodhpur makeup questions.

Does Tejaswini do small weddings at RAAS?

She does. Once your date is confirmed she travels from Pune and works from your room at RAAS Jodhpur, with fares and stay billed separately.

How many guests can RAAS host?

It is a small hotel of around forty rooms, so weddings are intimate; RAAS confirms numbers.

Is the old city hard to reach early in the morning?

Traffic is lighter early, but the team should stay inside or near the walled city.

What does it cost?

From Rs 50,000 for a complete bridal look. Groom grooming is Rs 10,000.

Can we use other Jodhpur venues too?

Yes. Many couples combine RAAS with a larger venue for one function.
