Indian Bridal Makeup Artist in Ubud

Ubud is the green, spiritual heart of Bali: river gorges, rice terraces and resorts that seem to grow out of the jungle. It is also cooler, wetter and further from the airport than the coast. Tejaswini travels from Pune with her team for the whole celebration and plans each look for mist, mountain air and a mandap above the river.

From Pune to the Ubud hills: an India-based team.

The studio is in Pune, India, with no Bali branch and no local artist working under our name. The artists who plan your looks on video are the same ones who fly to Bali, make the long drive up to Ubud two clear days before the first function and stay until the reception is over.

Three costs are always the client’s, each listed apart from the artist fee: return flights from India, Indonesia visa arrangements and rooms in Ubud. Because Ubud resorts are spread across ridges and valleys, the team needs to stay at the bride’s resort, not just nearby.

Every booking step for Bali, from first message to landing →

Indonesia requires the right permission for paid work by foreign nationals; a tourist e-VOA does not cover it. The team’s entry route is confirmed with your planner or a licensed Indonesian visa agent before flights are booked, based on evisa.imigrasi.go.id. The quote lists any trial and touch-up cover.

Real brides, real work

Bridal looks that suit green and gold.

Every bride shown here is Tejaswini’s own work, with no stock photography. Ubud photographs are full of deep greens and soft, filtered light, which flatters a warm, glowing base and rich lip colours. These looks show that balance.

Why fly her to Ubud

Jungle venues ask more of a bridal look.

Ubud’s resorts are breathtaking and physically demanding: long staircases into valleys, humid mist in the morning and sudden rain in the afternoon. The bridal look has to be planned for all of it.

Only Indian bridalFourteen years of Punjabi, Sikh, Gujarati, Marwari and North Indian brides; long functions and heavy outfits are the norm.
Planned for stairs and slopesMany Ubud venues sit down steep valleys. Hair, jewellery and the dupatta are secured for walking, and the final touch-up happens at the venue.
Waterproof by defaultMorning mist and afternoon rain are part of Ubud life. Waterproof products and careful setting are standard, not an upgrade.

Full kit from IndiaHD and airbrush products for Indian skin tones travel with the team, because Ubud has no professional bridal supply to fall back on.

How pricing works

Your quote, built around an Ubud week.

Destination pricing is set per booking. For Ubud, the distance from the airport and the spread of resorts affect the days and logistics, so these are part of the quote.

Bridal looksOne per function, plus any pre-wedding shoot at the rice terraces.
Family and friendsPer person; Ubud weddings often have smaller guest lists.
Looks on one dayTwo looks on the same day need more time and sometimes a second artist.
Travel daysThe long airport transfer means arrival and departure days are planned carefully.
Rooms in UbudThe team stays at the bride’s resort, as a client-paid line.
Flights and entryReturn flights from India and Indonesia visa arrangements, also client-paid and itemised.

Send dates, resort and functions on WhatsApp and the written quote usually follows the same day.

The part nobody explains

Cooler air, mist and real rain.

Ubud sits inland and higher than the coast. It is a few degrees cooler, noticeably damper and gets more rain, which changes how the bridal look is made.

Cooler, but dampEvenings are pleasant, often in the low twenties Celsius, so there is less sweat than on the coast, but mist and humidity still settle on skin and hair.
Rain arrives fastAfternoon storms are common, even in the drier months. Waterproof products and a covered route from suite to mandap are essential.
Filtered jungle lightTree canopy softens light and adds a green cast. The base is matched in neutral light so skin does not look grey or yellow in photos.
Steep paths and stepsValley resorts mean long stairs and buggies. Hair and jewellery are secured for the journey, and touch-ups happen on arrival.

Every function

A wedding week in the hills.

Ubud weddings usually run three or four functions, often with a cultural element such as a Balinese dance performance or a temple visit for guests.

Timing

Ubud is the furthest wedding area from the airport.

Ubud is about 75 to 120 minutes from Ngurah Rai airport, depending on traffic and the resort. Guests should arrive the day before the first function, and the team plans its arrival accordingly.

Ubud conditions by season, for wedding planning.
WindowWhat to expect
April – OctoberDrier months and the most popular wedding season; mornings can be misty and evenings cool.
November – MarchWet season with heavy rain, especially in the afternoon; the jungle is at its most lush. Covered spaces are essential.
Nyepi (usually March)The Day of Silence closes the airport and keeps everyone indoors for 24 hours across Bali.
Allow for the driveTreat the airport transfer as half a day. Arrival-day functions are rarely practical in Ubud.
Plan morning ceremoniesMornings are often drier; many Ubud couples hold the pheras before the afternoon rain.
Ask about the covered routeCheck how the bride gets from the suite to the mandap if it rains, especially down steps.
Team at the bride’s resortUbud resorts are far apart; the team must stay where the bride gets ready.
Book early for peak monthsPopular valley resorts book far ahead for the dry season.
Arrive two days earlyThe team lands two clear days before the first function, then drives up to Ubud.

Honest answers

The honest questions about an Ubud wedding.

Ubud is unforgettable, and it asks more of the logistics. These are the questions families ask most.

“What if it rains during the ceremony?”

Ubud gets more rain than the coast, and afternoon storms are common.

What to do

Choose a venue with a real covered mandap option, consider a morning ceremony, and keep a covered route from the suite. The makeup is waterproof regardless.

“Can elderly relatives manage the steps?”

Many valley resorts have long staircases.

What to ask

Ask the resort about buggies, lifts or funiculars, and choose function spaces close to the guest rooms.

“Is Ubud too far from the airport?”

At 75 to 120 minutes, it is the longest transfer of any Bali wedding area.

What Tejaswini does

The team arrives two clear days early and stays at the bride’s resort, so the drive never touches the wedding schedule.

“Will the jungle light make me look dull in photos?”

Canopy light can add a green or grey cast to skin.

What Tejaswini does

The base is matched in neutral light, with warmth added so skin looks healthy in green, filtered light.

On the ground

Getting married in Ubud.

Practical notes for a wedding week in Bali’s hills.

Getting there

Ngurah Rai airport (DPS) is 75 to 120 minutes away. Non-stop flights reach DPS from Delhi and Bengaluru, with seasonal Mumbai service.

Where guests stay

Larger resorts such as Padma Resort Ubud suit guest blocks; valley resorts suit close family.

Culture for guests

Balinese dance performances, the Ubud Palace and nearby temples make easy guest outings.

Monkeys

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is famous, and its monkeys grab jewellery and phones. Leave valuables behind.

Outfits and jewellery

There is no Indian bridal rental in Bali. Carry everything and keep jewellery in hand luggage.

Pre-wedding spots

Tegallalang rice terraces, the Campuhan Ridge walk and resort paddies at sunrise.

Questions

Questions about an Ubud wedding.

Specific to Ubud. For island-wide planning, see the Bali wedding guide.

Does Tejaswini travel to Ubud for Indian weddings?

Yes. Tejaswini is a bridal makeup artist based in Pune, India, and travels to Ubud with her team for the whole wedding. Bali would be a new destination for her; her destination experience so far is Goa, Udaipur, Jaipur and a bride who flew in from Dubai.

Is Ubud a good choice for an Indian wedding?

Yes, for couples who want jungle, river and rice-terrace settings and a smaller guest list, often 50 to 150 people. For a beach or a very large wedding, the southern coast is easier.

How far is Ubud from Bali airport?

Usually 75 to 120 minutes, depending on traffic and the resort.

Does it rain a lot in Ubud?

More than on the coast. Afternoon storms are common, especially from November to March, so covered spaces matter.

Will makeup survive the humidity and rain?

Yes. Waterproof products and careful setting are standard for every Ubud look.

Which Ubud resorts host Indian weddings?

Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Four Seasons Sayan, Capella Ubud, COMO Uma Ubud, Hanging Gardens of Bali, Viceroy Bali, Amandari and Maya Ubud are among the resorts used for weddings.

Can we have a morning ceremony?

Yes, and many Ubud couples do, because mornings are usually drier and cooler.

Can you do a pre-wedding shoot at the rice terraces?

Yes, as a separate look; Tegallalang is popular, best early in the morning before crowds.

Are the venues hard to walk around?

Many are built down steep valleys with stairs. Ask about buggies or lifts and choose spaces close to the rooms.

Where should the team stay?

At the bride’s resort; Ubud resorts are spread out and the drive between them can be long.

Who pays for the team’s flights and visas?

The client pays return flights from India, Indonesia visa or permission costs and rooms in Ubud, all listed separately from the artist fee.

How is pricing worked out?

By the bridal looks, family makeup, same-day looks and days in Bali, in an itemised written quote.

Do you cover family and friends?

Yes, booked per person; the total decides the team size.

How early should we book?

As soon as your resort and date are confirmed, especially for the dry season.

Ubud bookings

Send the resort, your dates and the ceremony time.

Tell us your dates, the Ubud venue, the functions and how many people need hair and makeup. You will get a written quote with the artist fee and client-paid travel kept apart, usually the same day.
