Booking an Indian bridal makeup artist for Lake Como

Tejaswini’s India-based team covers Lake Como weddings end to end: bridal makeup and hair for each function, draping, and makeup for the family and bridal party. The team lands at least a day before the first event and stays at or near your villa or hotel. Flights from India, Schengen visas and rooms for the team are paid by the client and shown separately in the quote.

Lake Como suits families who want the classic Italian villa wedding: historic gardens, boat arrivals and some of the most photographed terraces in Europe. It is best for 40 to 250 guests; very large weddings need one of the few venues built for scale.

Your artist in Lake Como

Tejaswini: fourteen years of Indian brides, now on the lake.

The person behind this page is Tejaswini, a Pune-born bridal makeup artist who has styled more than a thousand brides since 2012. She runs Tejaswini Makeup Studio & Academy in Baner, teaches small private batches, and still takes every bridal booking herself.

Lake Como suits the way she works. Villa terraces and water reflect a great deal of light back onto the face, and heavy makeup looks chalky there. Her signature is the opposite: a thin, well-prepared base, clean definition around the eyes and a finish that reads as glowing skin.

A lake wedding uses the same system she uses everywhere: early arrival, one wedding per trip and every morning planned on paper before anyone flies, with boat timings built in.

What a Lake Como bride gets

  • Two planning conversations (a third if needed) covering outfits, jewellery and venue light
  • No rushed trial: looks are decided in advance with your real styling
  • Tejaswini personally on every bridal look, with her own team for family makeup
  • A written timetable shared with your planner and photographer

Where the weddings happen

Most wedding villas sit on two short stretches of shore.

Lake Como is shaped like an upside-down Y, and almost every Indian wedding happens on its south-western arm. The first cluster is around Cernobbio, just north of Como town, where Villa d’Este and Villa Erba stand side by side. The second is the Tremezzina, about 40 minutes further up the western shore, with Tremezzo, Lenno and Ossuccio facing Bellagio across the water.

That matters for makeup because the lakeside road, the Via Regina, is narrow and slow, and a 20-kilometre drive can take an hour in summer. Within each cluster, though, distances are short, and boats are often quicker than cars.

We ask for the team’s rooms in the same cluster as the wedding, ideally in the same hotel. If functions are split between Cernobbio and the Tremezzina, we plan the bride’s touch-up on the boat rather than a full redo.

Allow this much time

Typical travel times the bridal team plans around.

Rough door-to-door estimates. Traffic, ferries and season change them, so we add a buffer to every one.

  • Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Cernobbio50–70 min
  • Milan Linate (LIN) to Cernobbio60–80 min
  • Como town to Cernobbio10–15 min
  • Cernobbio to Tremezzo by road40–60 min
  • Tremezzo to Lenno or Ossuccio10–15 min
  • Tremezzo to Bellagio by ferryAbout 15 min
  • Lenno to Villa del BalbianelloShort boat ride or a walk of about 1 km
  • Milan city to Como by car or train45–60 min

Private water taxis are the fastest way between lakeside venues and make a beautiful baraat, but they need booking well ahead in summer. If the bride arrives by boat, tell us early: open water changes how we set hair, veil and dupatta.

Light and setting

How Lake Como changes each look.

The lake gives you soft morning light, hard afternoon reflections and candle-lit evenings in one day. Each function’s makeup is planned for the light it will be photographed in.

A wedding day in Lake Como

How the bride’s day usually runs.

An example for afternoon pheras on a villa terrace and an evening reception indoors. We rebuild it around your muhurat, the boat schedule and your photographer.

  1. 07:30

Team sets up in the bridal suite

Window light chosen, kit laid out and skin prep ready. The team’s rooms are in the same hotel or village, so there is no morning drive along the lake.

  2. 09:00

    Mothers and family first

Family makeup runs in a second room so the bridal suite stays calm.

  3. 11:00

    Bride’s skin prep and base

A base built for reflected afternoon light and indoor flash later.

  4. 13:00

    Hair, eyes, jewellery and draping

Maang tikka, nath and dupatta set with the outfit on.

  5. 14:30

    Portraits in the gardens

Photographs while the face is fresh, before the afternoon breeze picks up.

  6. 16:00

    Baraat by boat and pheras

One artist stays at the mandap with a touch-up kit.

  7. 19:30

    Change for the reception

Deeper lip, refreshed eyes and a new hairstyle if planned; about 60–75 minutes.

Wind check: afternoon breezes on Lake Como are common in summer. If the pheras are on an open terrace or the bride arrives by boat, we plan a more structured hairstyle and pin the dupatta at more points.

From experience of destination weddings

Small decisions that make a Lake Como wedding easier.

Do

  • Book the team’s rooms in the same part of the lake as the wedding
  • Ask each villa about its music curfew before planning a late sangeet
  • Plan boat timings with the planner and share them with us
  • Keep a covered getting-ready room with good window light

Avoid

  • Splitting functions between Cernobbio and Bellagio without allowing for transfers
  • A glossy base for an afternoon terrace ceremony
  • Loose open curls for a boat arrival
  • Assuming every villa allows an open havan fire

Questions

Lake Como wedding makeup: what families ask.

Do you travel from India for Lake Como weddings?

Yes. The team flies from Pune for your dates and covers every function, the bride, the family and the bridal party.

Which Lake Como venues do Indian families book most?

Villa d’Este and Villa Erba in Cernobbio, Villa Balbiano in Ossuccio, Grand Hotel Tremezzo and Villa del Balbianello in Lenno are the usual shortlist, each with its own guide on this site.

Is Lake Como suitable for a large Indian wedding?

For 250 guests or more, choose a venue built for scale such as Villa Erba, or split guests across hotels. Many famous villas have limits on numbers and music, so check those first.

Can the baraat arrive by boat?

Yes, and it is one of the best moments of a Lake Como wedding. We set the hair and dupatta for wind and send an artist ahead to the jetty for a final check.

When is the best time for a Lake Como wedding?

May, June and September are the favourites. July and August are warm and busy; most hotels close from November to March.

How many days before the wedding should the team arrive?

At least one full day before the first function, and two if anyone in the team connects through another city.

What does the family need to send for the team’s visas?

Confirmed rooms for the whole stay, flight bookings and a short letter describing the event and dates. We send the exact list per person.

Do you only do North Indian bridal looks?

No. Tejaswini works across North Indian, Marwari, Punjabi, Gujarati, Maharashtrian, South Indian and contemporary looks, and plans each function separately.
