Makeup artist for your Istanbul pre-wedding shoot

Cobbled streets under Galata Tower, a sunset on the Bosphorus, the domes of the old city at first light. Istanbul gives a pre-wedding album the feel of a film, and Tejaswini’s India-based team makes sure the bride looks like herself in every frame.

Why Istanbul

A city made for a pre-wedding story.

2Continents in one frame across the Bosphorus
~7 hrsDirect flight from Delhi
5+Iconic backdrops within a short drive
1 dayEnough for three distinct looks

The idea

A city shoot is a story told in chapters.

Unlike a single dramatic landscape, Istanbul rewards couples who plan a sequence: an early-morning look among the domes of Sultanahmet before the crowds, a relaxed street-style look in Karaköy and Galata at midday, and an evening look on the water as the sun drops behind the old city. Each chapter needs its own outfit, hairstyle and makeup.

Plan the looks around the map, not just the mood.

That is where planning matters. City locations are spread out and traffic is real, so the order of looks has to follow the map, not just the mood. We work with your photographer to plan where each change happens, usually at the hotel or in a private room near the next location, never on a pavement.

Istanbul also asks for respect at its religious sites. Mosques are working places of worship; shoots around them happen outside, with modest outfits, and the photographer handles any permissions needed for palaces or private terraces.

Your artist

Why Tejaswini for a pre-wedding shoot in Istanbul.

Tejaswini has styled more than a thousand brides since 2012 and runs a studio and private academy in Baner, Pune. She leads every bridal look herself, and for a pre-wedding shoot that means the face in your city album is the same face you will see in your wedding photographs.

Her style is light and photographic. Street-style frames in natural light show skin texture clearly, so she keeps bases thin and well-prepared; evening frames on the Bosphorus get stronger definition and a richer lip. Every look is decided in advance, in two planning conversations using your real outfits and jewellery.

Her destination work so far has been across India, with brides also travelling from abroad to be styled by her. For Istanbul she plans changes and travel times with your photographer, so the shoot runs on a written timetable rather than guesswork.

What she plans with you

  • The order of locations and where each change happens
  • Hair that survives Bosphorus wind and boat decks
  • Outfit and lip colours for daylight and city lights
  • Light grooming for the groom, if you want it

Common assumptions

What couples often expect, and what actually works.

What people assumeWe can do all the looks in one place.

What actually happensIstanbul’s best backdrops are spread out. A good plan groups them by area and time of day.

What people assumeAny outfit works at the mosques.

What actually happensShoots around mosques need modest dress: covered shoulders and, for the bride, a dupatta or scarf over the hair.

What people assumeA boat shoot is calm.

What actually happensWater is often breezy, especially in the afternoon. Hair and veils need more structure.

What people assumeMidday is fine for photos.

What actually happensMidday sun is harsh. Plan indoor or shaded street shots then, and save open views for golden hour.

Questions

Istanbul pre-wedding shoot makeup FAQs.

Do you travel from India for an Istanbul pre-wedding shoot?

Yes. Tejaswini’s team flies from Pune for your shoot dates and handles the bride’s makeup, hair and draping for every look. Travel, visas and rooms for the team are paid by the couple at cost.

How many looks can we fit into one day in Istanbul?

Three is comfortable: an old-city morning look, a street-style midday look and an evening look on the Bosphorus.

Do we need permission to shoot in Istanbul?

Public streets are usually fine for casual shoots. Palaces, museums, private terraces and some landmarks need permission, which your photographer or planner arranges.

Can we shoot inside the mosques?

Mosques are places of worship; most couples photograph the exteriors. If visiting inside, dress modestly, cover the hair and avoid prayer times.

Is a Bosphorus boat shoot a good idea?

Yes, it gives moving backdrops of palaces and bridges. Book a private boat for late afternoon and expect some wind.

When is the best season?

April to June and September to November. April adds tulips at Emirgan; summer is warm and busy; winter is grey but quiet.

Can you also do our wedding in Turkey?

Yes. Couples often book the shoot and the wedding together, in Istanbul or at a resort in Antalya or Bodrum.

Can the groom get grooming too?

Yes. Light grooming, such as skin prep, a little coverage and hair, can be added to any look.
