Bali gets the headlines and the Maldives gets the honeymoon budget, but Thailand is where the actual logistics of an Indian wedding — a five-function week, 150 to 400 guests, a baraat, a mandap — tend to work out easiest.
Visa-free for Indian passports
As of 15 September 2026, Indian nationals can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days under the country's revised exemption rules (previously 60 days). Every traveller still needs to file a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 3 days of arrival — free, but easy to forget until the airport queue.
Direct and short-connection flights
Bangkok alone has more direct India routes than any other overseas wedding destination on this list, from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. Phuket and Koh Samui add direct or one-stop options from the same cities; only Krabi requires a connection through Bangkok or Phuket.
An events industry built for weddings, not just tourism
Thailand's five-star resorts run dedicated wedding teams as standard — in-house planners, licensed outdoor ceremony permits, backup indoor ballrooms, and vendor lists that already include Indian caterers and decorators in the bigger cities and islands. This infrastructure is a genuine head start over less-established destinations.
Four very different settings in one country
A cliffside ceremony in Phuket, a private-island feel in Koh Samui, a riverside ballroom in Bangkok, or a 30-guest boat-access wedding in Krabi — the range from beach to city to remote hideaway is wider than most single destinations offer, without changing countries.
Generally more cost-predictable than Europe or the Maldives
Venue, catering and vendor costs in Thailand's wedding hubs typically run below equivalent five-star venues in Europe and well below the Maldives' all-inclusive private-island pricing, while still delivering a genuine luxury setting — a large part of why it has become a default shortlist entry for Indian planners.
A wedding, not automatically a legal marriage
Most Indian couples treat the Thailand event as the ceremonial wedding and complete the legal marriage registration back in India — simpler paperwork, no need to involve a Thai registrar or notarised translations. Legal registration in Thailand itself is possible for foreign nationals, but it is its own separate process; check with a lawyer or your registrar if you specifically want the marriage registered in Thailand.

Here is the honest picture.

Names like Natalie Lorence Makeup & Styling, Wow Make Up Phuket and Neil Donkin Makeup Artist are well-reviewed and experienced with international destination weddings on the island — but none currently advertise Indian bridal specialisation. Worth a conversation if you want a Western-style look for one function alongside an Indian artist for the rest.
Freelance India-based artists who travel
A number of independent Indian bridal artists take on individual Thailand bookings case by case, found mainly through wedding-planner referrals and Instagram rather than a fixed local presence. Ask any Thailand wedding planner you're considering (see below) for their current recommendations, and always ask to see Thailand-specific work before booking someone new.

Hair and makeup is one piece of the day — decor, catering, permits and the run-of-show still need a planner who knows the country. Decor and mandap builders
Phuket, Bangkok and Koh Samui all have decor vendors with prior mandap and stage experience, sourced through the resort's own vendor list or an independent planner. Krabi's decor bench is thinner — confirm this earlier there than elsewhere.
Catering
Most five-star resorts across all four destinations can now run an Indian or Jain menu, usually via an in-house chef trained on it or a partnered outside caterer. Ask to taste-test before confirming, especially for a vegetarian-heavy guest list.
Outfits and jewellery
There is no verified Indian bridal-wear or jewellery rental network anywhere in Thailand. Every couple on Tejaswini's calendar has carried outfits and jewellery from home — plan customs declarations and secure transport for jewellery accordingly.
Currency and payments
The Thai baht (THB) is the local currency; most resorts and planners quote and invoice in USD or THB. Confirm which currency your vendor contracts are actually priced in before you compare quotes across destinations.
Best time of year, at a glance
Phuket and Krabi: dry November to April. Koh Samui: dry January to September — the one destination that covers Phuket's monsoon months. Bangkok: workable most of the year since most weddings run indoors, with September and October the heaviest rain.
Guest travel
Build in a buffer for connecting flights (Krabi has none direct from India) and, for boat-access venues in Krabi, a same-day contingency. Bangkok remains the easiest single city to fly a large guest list into.

At least 6 months as a practical minimum, and 12 to 18 months ahead for peak-season dates on the islands (November to April). Popular hotels and in-demand vendors, including makeup artists, book out well ahead of the date itself.
